Joel faced high expectations on this album. 52nd Street was conceived as a day in Manhattan, and was named after the famous street of same name which hosted many of the world"s premier jazz venues and performers throughout the 1930s, 40"s, and 50"s. Fans purchased over seven million copies on the strength of the hits My Life (# 3), Big Shot (# 14), and Honesty (# 24). This helped 52nd Street become Joel"s first # 1 album. My Life eventually became the theme song for a new US television sitcom, Bosom Buddies, which featured actor Tom Hanks in one of his earliest roles. 52nd Street was the first album to be released on Compact Disc in Japan (1982). The album won Grammys for Best Pop Vocal Performance, Male & Album of the Year. Despite all the cover art for the album showing Joel holding a trumpet, he does not play the instrument on the album, though two tracks on the album do feature trumpets. Freddie Hubbard plays two solos in Zanzibar and joins Jon Faddis in the horn section for Half A Mile Away.

The 1974 debut album Bad Company was an international hit, with the group considered one of the 1970s" first super groups. Bad Company consisted of four seasoned musicians: two former members of Free, singer Paul Rodgers and drummer Simon Kirke; former Mott the Hoople guitarist Mick Ralphs; and King Crimson"s bassist Boz Burrell. The group was managed by Peter Grant who also managed Led Zeppelin at the time and would manage Bad Company until 1982. The album peaked at #1 on Billboard"s Pop Albums chart (North America) and included two singles that reached the top 20 charts, Can"t Get Enough at #9 in 1974 and Movin" On at #14 in early 1975. In 1975, Straight Shooter gave the group another #1 on Billboard"s Pop Albums chart. The album also spawned three hit singles, Good Lovin" Gone Bad at #30, the slower Feel Like Makin" Love at #10 and Shooting Star.

High Voltage is the first internationally-released album by Australian hard rock band AC/DC, released in May 1976. Eight of the album"s nine songs were written by Angus Young, Malcolm Young, and Bon Scott. Can I Sit Next to You Girl was written by Young & Young.

Originally released on Atlantic Records, this edition of High Voltage has proven popular, selling 3 million units in the United States alone. However, the album was panned by some critics upon its release, including a review by Rolling Stone magazine that called it in all-time low for the hard rock genre. It was re-released in 2003 as part of the AC/DC Remasters series.

Vanilla Fudge was an American psychedelic band that recorded albums from 1967 to 1970. Members included organist Mark Stein, bassist Tim Bogert, lead guitarist Vince Martell, and drummer Carmine Appice.

They had a number of hit singles, their biggest hit being You Keep Me Hangin" On, a slowed-down, trippy, hard rock cover of a song originally recorded by The Supremes, which particularly featured Appice"s energetic drumming. One follow-up to this hit, Take Me For a Little While, had a quite different lyric message than the former.

The members of Vanilla Fudge were great admirers of The Beatles, and covered several of their songs including Ticket to Ride, as well as Eleanor Rigby, of which The Beatles were quite fond.

They were inducted into the Long Island Music Hall of Fame (www.limusichalloffame.org)on Oct 15, 2006, along with Billy Joel and Joan Jett. Fellow Long Islander Felix Cavaliere inducted them into the hall.
